Job summary

Northrop Grumman is seeking a Materials Engineer, Level 4 or 5, to support submarine and surface ship missile launcher systems in Sunnyvale, CA. Onsite role within the METL lab, providing metallurgy and weld engineering expertise to production, design, and Navy/customer projects.

The candidate should have strong metallurgy knowledge, familiarity with DoD/Navy processes, and the ability to obtain a secret clearance.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of materials engineering or weld engineering experience.
• Strong knowledge of metallurgical practices, welds, and corrosion control.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.
• US citizenship and ability to obtain a secret clearance.

Responsibilities

• Provide materials engineering expertise during design.
• Offer engineering guidance when production quality concerns arise.
• Review and approve supplier manufacturing procedures.
• Collaborate with test engineers and customers; guide suppliers.
• Interact with customer program representatives and cross-functional teams.
