Beehive Industries, LLC in Knoxville, TN seeks a Senior Materials Engineer to advance materials, heat treatment, powder metallurgy, and material characterization for aerospace and defense applications. The role provides technical authority and guides AM metallurgy, property optimization, and production integration.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Materials Science & Engineering, Metallurgy, Mechanical Engineering, or related field.
• Minimum of 5 years of related experience; or 3 years with a Master’s; or PhD without experience.
• Experience developing, characterizing, and qualifying high-performance metallic materials and heat treatments for production.
• Experience leading materials engineering tasks, failure analyses, and material selection on programs.
• Knowledge of ASTM/SAE/AMS/ISO standards and metallurgical analysis techniques.
• Ability to obtain and maintain U.S. government security clearance; U.S. citizenship required.

Responsibilities

• Serve as technical authority for aerospace-grade metals, powder characterization, heat treatment development, and material qualification across AM workflows.
• Define technical strategies, material roadmaps, and characterization protocols to support process development and production scalability.
• Establish and improve material specifications, heat treatment standards, powder controls, and documentation.
• Drive resolution of challenges in powder metallurgy, microstructure evolution, and defect mechanisms to ensure reliable AM.
• Lead development and qualification of production-ready material processing specs, including HIP and surface finishing.
• Mentor junior engineers and materials specialists; foster technical growth.
