Job summary

RTX in Tucson, AZ seeks an experienced materials analyst to perform chemical and thermal analysis on diverse materials and to collaborate with a multi‑disciplinary engineering team for rapid, precise results. Responsibilities include material conformance assessments, root‑cause analysis, and lab‑intensive work with instruments, with lifting up to 22 lbs as part of daily duties.

Qualifications

• University degree or equivalent with at least 5 years of relevant experience, or an advanced degree with at least 3 years.
• Experience in thermal analysis and characterization techniques (DSC, DMA, TGA, CTE, TC).
• Experience in analytical chemistry and instrumental analysis including FTIR, GC-MS, HPLC, GPC, etc.

Responsibilities

• Perform chemical and thermal analysis on a wide range of materials including adhesives, polymers, tapes, composites, metals, and other production materials.
• Assess materials for conformance to specifications and conduct root‑cause failure analysis using instrumental techniques.
• Deliver rapid turnaround results in collaboration with a multi‑disciplinary engineering team, ensuring careful attention to detail.
• Manage simultaneous tasks within set schedules while spending the majority of time in the laboratory.
