Raytheon in Tucson, AZ is seeking a Materials Engineer to perform chemical analysis on adhesives, polymers, tapes, composites, metals, and other production materials.
You will assess materials against specifications and conduct root‑cause failure analysis using thermal analysis and spectroscopy/chromatography techniques, working with a multi‑discipline team to deliver engineering solutions on tight timelines.

Opportunity to work in Materials Engineering Laboratory in Tucson AZ. This position will offer a qualified candidate the opportunity to solve engineering problems by performing chemical analysis on various materials (adhesives, polymers, tapes, composites, metals, and other production materials). The primary responsibilities require assessing materials based on conformance to specifications or conducting root‑cause failure analysis leveraging knowledge of instrumental analysis with an emphasis on thermal analysis experience along with some spectroscopy and chromatography experience. Tasks will require quick turnaround of analysis working with a multi‑discipline team, requiring careful attention to detail and can be repetitive at times. This is not a research position but requires solving engineering problems and providing engineering solutions within a short period of time (days or weeks).
Due to the physical nature of the work, qualified candidates must also be able to lift 22 lbs. Collaboration with engineers, subject matter experts, and suppliers is required. The candidate must be able to manage and coordinate a wide variety of simultaneous tasks within set schedule requirements while spending much of their time in the laboratory. This candidate will become part of a multi‑disciplined team.
U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance. An active and transferable U.S. government‑issued security clearance (Secret) is required prior to start date.
Salary range for this role is 86,800 USD – 165,200 USD.
