Job description

The Senior Material Handler plays a crucial role in the manufacturing process by ensuring that materials are efficiently received, stored, and distributed throughout the warehouse and production facilities. This position is responsible for maintaining accurate inventory levels and ensuring that materials are available for production needs, having direct impact on the overall productivity of our manufacturing operations. The Senior Material Handler will also assist in the training and development of junior material handlers, fostering a collaborative and efficient work environment. Additionally, this role assists in implementing safety protocols and best practices to minimize risks associated with material handling. Ultimately, the Senior Material Handler contributes to the seamless flow of materials, which is essential for meeting production targets and maintaining high-quality standards.

Minimum Qualifications :

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in production support, shipping, and receiving in a warehouse environment.
  • Experience moving material efficiently using material handling equipment including forklifts, pallet jacks, RF scanners, stretch wrapping machines, and storage equipment like racks, shelves, and bins.
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience using inventory management software and / or ERP software (PLEX preferred).

Preferred Qualifications :

  • Experience with hazardous materials strongly preferred.
  • Familiarity with hazmat labeling and the segregation of chemicals by hazard class within a warehouse environment are a plus.
  • Experience loading trucks with knowledge of proper trailer weight distribution that meets federal DOT requirements are also a plus.
  • Experience with PLEX, or other manufacturing MRP or ERP system is a plus

Responsibilities :

  • Manage inventory levels by conducting regular audits and maintaining accurate records in the inventory management system.
  • Coordinate the movement of materials to and from production areas, ensuring timely availability for manufacturing processes.
  • Train and mentor junior material handlers on best practices for material handling and safety procedures.
  • Implement and enforce safety protocols to ensure a safe working environment for all team members.
