Job summary

Gills Point S Tire in Houlton, ME is seeking an experienced automotive diagnostics and repair technician to lead complex repairs and mentor apprentices. The role covers advanced diagnostics, engine and electrical work, and hands-on shop leadership.

You will work with modern tools, uphold safety and quality standards, support service advisors, and contribute to a customer-focused, team-driven shop culture in a full-time, on-site position.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Vocational or technical automotive training preferred.
• 7+ years of professional automotive repair experience.
• ASE Master Technician Certification preferred but not required.
• Willingness to pursue ASE certifications with company support.
• Expert-level diagnostic and troubleshooting abilities across multiple vehicle systems.
• Proficiency using modern diagnostic equipment, scan tools, oscilloscopes, digital multimeters, and specialty tools.
• Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record.
• Strong communication, leadership, and organizational skills.
• Commitment to quality workmanship, safety, and customer satisfaction.
• Ability to lead by example while supporting and developing fellow technicians.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose drivability, engine, transmission, electrical, and network concerns.
• Use scan tools, oscilloscopes, DMMs, pressure gauges, and service info.
• Analyze live data to identify root causes of failures.
• Diagnose ABS, SRS, charging, starting, steering, suspension, HVAC, engine mgmt.
• Perform engine teardown, overhaul, repair, and replacement.
• Repair timing components, heads, cooling systems, and internals.
• Diagnose and repair drivetrain, suspension, steering, brakes, charging, electrical.
• Mentor and train apprentices and junior technicians.
