Job summary

Electra.aero in Manassas, VA seeks a Staff/Senior Mass Properties Engineer to support the EL9 program. This role directly impacts the design and development of a cutting-edge hybrid‑electric aircraft, focusing on weight, balance, and mass properties processes and tools.

You will develop weight data, coordinate with SMEs, and present status to design teams and leadership while leveraging NX and TeamCenter. Requires BS in STEM and 5–10 years of relevant experience; advanced degrees and US person

Qualifications

• BS in a STEM discipline is required.
• 5–10 years of mass properties experience.
• Experience with industry mass properties practices.
• Strong organizational and communication skills.
• Ability to work independently.

Responsibilities

• Support mass properties control and management across the EL9 program.
• Develop weight estimates to support design proposals and prototypes.
• Develop current and forecasted weight, balance, and mass properties data.
• Perform estimation, calculation, and measurement/verification of mass, CG, and inertias of components and assemblies.
• Develop mass properties processes and tools across Electra.
• Coordinate with SMEs to understand weight impacts of design decisions.
• Present weight status to design teams and program leadership.
• Review and support detail and installation drawing release processes.
• Work under minimal direction.
• Excellent written/verbal communication skills.
