Job summary

Electra is building the EL9, a nine-passenger hybrid-electric aircraft with first test flights planned for 2027 and certification by 2029–2030. This role supports design, analysis, integration, and testing of electrical systems across multiple aircraft domains at our Manassas headquarters, collaborating with propulsion, avionics, structures, and flight test teams.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree with 5+ years (Staff) or 8+ years (Senior) in relevant field.
• Experience developing aerospace, aviation, defense, or other complex electrical systems.
• Knowledge of electrical system design, integration, and testing methodologies.
• Experience creating and managing technical requirements and interface definitions.
• Familiarity with electrical schematic development and analysis.
• Experience using electrical test equipment (oscilloscopes, multimeters, power supplies, data acquisition).
• Strong communication and collaboration across internal teams and partners.

Responsibilities

• Support design, analysis, integration, and testing of electrical systems.
• Develop and maintain system requirements to meet safety and certification goals.
• Support supplier selection, evaluations, and integration efforts.
• Create engineering documentation and test plans.
• Participate in design reviews and flight-test activities.
• Troubleshoot electrical system issues and propose fixes.
• Collaborate with propulsion, avionics, and structures teams.
• Assist in certification and compliance activities.
