Job summary

Electra in Manassas, Virginia is seeking a Staff/ Senior Mechanical Engineer to drive the design and integration of mechanical systems for the hybrid-electric EL9 aircraft. You'll work across architecture, prototyping, and testing with a collaborative team in a fast-paced environment.

The role demands strong experience in mechanical design, documentation, and CAD, including NX, with ownership of system-level trades and certification readiness for FAA Part 23.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in engineering; 5+ years (Staff) or 8+ years (Senior) of relevant experience.
• Strong understanding of mechanical system design, integration, and verification processes.
• Experience documenting engineering requirements and technical documentation.
• Proficiency in 3D CAD design; NX experience strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and integrate aircraft systems across mechanical domains.
• Develop design requirements, specifications, interface definitions, and supporting docs.
• Perform engineering calculations and analyses to verify performance and compliance.
• Support trade studies and design evaluations to optimize weight, reliability, and cost.
• Create and maintain CAD models, layouts, installation definitions, and drawings.
• Collaborate with suppliers and cross-disciplinary teams; participate in design reviews.
