Job summary

Avalara, Inc. is seeking a senior engineer to own the backbone that turns every lead into a routed, enriched record, including intake, validation, enrichment, and routing services, plus a Personalization Engine for sales collateral.

You'll design end-to-end architecture across AWS, influence design reviews and runway planning, and own key infrastructure and telemetry to keep systems secure and observable.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field.
• 8+ years engineering in MarTech/enterprise systems with hands-on AWS serverless and Terraform/IaC.
• Proven database design across DynamoDB and analytics models in Snowflake; strong SQL.
• Integration depth with Salesforce, Marketo, and identity/consent-aware data flows; resilient API patterns.

Responsibilities

• Own backbone that turns every lead into a routed, enriched record across intake, validation, enrichment, and routing services.
• Build and harden AWS serverless services (Lambda, API Gateway, Step Functions, EventBridge, SQS/SNS) for lead handling.
• Design data models in DynamoDB and Snowflake; optimize tracking flows across Google/Floodlight/LinkedIn and related platforms.
• Write Terraform IaC and monitoring/alerting to keep systems secure and observable; translate tradeoffs for leadership.
