Job summary

Serco is seeking a Senior Marine Ship Fitter to support U.S. Navy ships with electrical and mechanical assemblies, cabling, and C5ISR system installations. The role requires performing on-board work in Norfolk, VA, with occasional travel to Newport News, VA, and other sites.

The candidate will interpret specifications, supervise shop personnel, and ensure safety in demanding environments, including high heat spaces and near heavy equipment. A Secret clearance and Citizenship are required.

Qualifications

• Active Secret Clearance required.
• US Citizenship required.
• High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
• 8 years of ship fitting experience or equivalent.
• Familiarity with NAVSEA concepts, practices and procedures.
• Ability to travel up to 25% to various work sites and to Newport News, VA.

Responsibilities

• Interpret specifications, drawings, blueprints, shop orders and process sheets.
• Assign work to qualified personnel.
• Train new shop personnel on machinery, tools and test equipment for quality construction.
• Work onboard US Navy ships and military installations; follow safety protocols in challenging environments.
