Job summary

Heritage Auctions, the world’s largest collectibles auctioneer, is seeking a Consignment Director for Manuscripts to build relationships with collectors, institutions, and dealers in the Dallas area. You will evaluate property, contribute to marketing strategies, and drive growth in the Manuscripts category.

You will source high-quality consignments, assess authenticity and historical importance, and collaborate with internal teams to maximize auction results.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in an auction house or major institution.
• Expertise in autographs, letters, documents, archives, or historical ephemera.
• Experience with institutional or private collection curation preferred.

Responsibilities

• Grow and refine the Manuscripts category with senior management.
• Source exceptional consignments from private collections, estates, dealers, and other institutions.
• Generate and pursue leads independently and via Heritage Auctions’ resources.
• Evaluate manuscripts for authenticity, historical importance, and market value.
• Negotiate terms of consignment and maintain consignor relationships.
• Collaborate with marketing to promote Manuscripts auctions and private treaty sales.
• Expand the Manuscripts client base by identifying and engaging new buyers and sellers.
• Travel as required to meet clients and review collections.
• Assist with catalog production, proofreading text, imagery, and press materials.
• Contribute to educational content and promotional campaigns highlighting the category.
