Job summary

Base Power Company is seeking a Test Engineer to deploy, sustain, and improve automated manufacturing test systems for battery backup production in Austin, TX. You will partner with engineering, operations, and suppliers to ensure robust test capability and scalable processes.

This role emphasizes hands-on design of end-of-line test, software-driven diagnostics, and data-driven improvements, with a strong bias toward reliability and rapid iteration in a startup environment.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in electrical test systems design.
• Exposure to a wide variety of test and automation systems, production machinery, industrial sensors, data acquisition, safety, and I/O devices (pogo-pins, pressure transducers, temperature controllers, meters, PLCs).
• Hands-on experience designing and building end-of-line and functional test systems.
• Experience with Linux and Windows operating systems.
• Understanding of grid simulators, power manipulation, and inverter operations.
• Ability to read software code (TestStand, LabVIEW, Python, Golang, C, C++).
• Experience with CAN bus communications and interpreting traces.
• Basic PLC programming and troubleshooting (Allen-Bradley/Siemens).
• Ability to summarize data for technical and non-technical audiences.
• Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field, or equivalent experience.

Responsibilities

• Lead uptime and FPY improvements on manufacturing test equipment.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure test equipment meets expectations.
• Conduct data analysis and VOC discussions to address challenges post deployment.
• Serve as a system-level contact for design and site operations.
• Build, validate, and deploy test equipment to production lines and contract manufacturers.
• Provide ongoing troubleshooting support for testers after deployment.
• Support equipment testing and qualification during development and ramp-up.
