Job summary

Base is seeking a Test Engineer to push batteries and inverters beyond their limits at our outdoor test site outside Austin, TX. You will review designs, identify gaps in test coverage, and plan, build, and run safety and certification tests with hands-on rigour.

You will own test safety, set up data acquisition, and collaborate with teams to deliver thorough test reports. A degree in engineering and 1+ years of electrical test experience are expected.

Qualifications

• Degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• 1+ years designing and running tests on electrical equipment.
• Experience around lithium‑ion batteries and high voltage.
• Comfort with hands-on, mostly outdoor work.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate designs for safety with DFMEA and similar tools.
• Design and run safety and abuse tests, including thermal runaway, battery and inverter short circuit, and full-voltage switch interruption.
• Own the safety of every test setup.
• Set up data acquisition: thermocouples, voltage and current, and accelerometers.
• Run certification tests in-house or at external labs.
• Improve test throughput, quality, and the test site itself.
• Write world‑class test reports and share results with stakeholders.
