Job summary

Blue Origin is seeking an experienced Senior Manufacturing Technology & Vendor Management DFX Engineer to own end-to-end manufacturing technology evaluation and supplier integration for the TeraWave program. You will bridge emerging manufacturing tech with volume production readiness, ensuring manufacturability, testability, and reliability at orbital scale.

The role requires 10+ years in aerospace manufacturing and strong DFX and vendor management skills, with travel up to 30% and relocation

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in a technical discipline (Mechanical/Manufacturing/Aerospace)
  • 10+ years in manufacturing/engineering within aerospace/defense/advanced manufacturing
  • Experience with technology transfer in manufacturing environments
  • Proficiency in DFX methodologies (DFM, DFA, DFMA, DFI, DFC)
  • Experience with project management tools and Agile methodologies
  • Familiarity with aerospace manufacturing processes and GD&T (ASME Y14.5)
  • Ability to read engineering drawings and specifications
  • Willingness to travel up to 30% for vendor site visits
  • U.S. citizen or permanent resident for export-controlled tech

Responsibilities

  • Lead technology transfer activities with internal subsystems and external vendors
  • Apply DFX principles across the product lifecycle to optimize manufacturability
  • Conduct DFX reviews with cross-functional teams to mitigate producibility risks
  • Develop and maintain manufacturing process docs, specs, and data packs
  • Evaluate vendor capabilities to meet technical and quality requirements
  • Support new process introduction and qualification at vendor sites (FAI, production readiness)
  • Own technology transfer project plans with scope, schedule and risk mitigation
  • Track program status and report risks to leadership
  • Drive cross-functional coordination among engineering, supply chain and operations
  • Lead root-cause analysis and structured problem solving for vendor and internal issues
  • Coordinate design/manufacturing/process reviews with internal and supplier teams
