Northrop Grumman Defense Systems is seeking a Staff Manufacturing Systems Engineer to oversee Production Operation Systems and Technology at our Huntsville, AL site. The role requires expertise in MBOM/OBOM concepts, digital tools, and production scheduling across multiple programs.

The position emphasizes strong data analysis, project management, and collaboration with cross-functional teams to optimize manufacturing workflows and cost/risk decisions.

Qualifications

• 12+ years of relevant experience with a B.S. in STEM field; 10 years with an M.S.; 8 years with a PhD.
• U.S. Citizen with an active DoD Secret security clearance at time of application.
• Strong experience using manufacturing software (ERP, MES, PLM/PDM).
• Experience in Manufacturing Engineering and in a manufacturing setting.
• Detail oriented, organized, with a high sense of urgency.
• Flexible schedule to support out-of-service system testing.
• Experience leading cross-functional teams and strong written/oral communication.

Responsibilities

• Support Production Operation Systems and Technology.
• The role will be the technical SME for the division to support Manufacturing Engineering and related functions within digital tools (SAP, CPLM, SmartMES).
• Develop cost/risk summaries and recommendations for leadership.
• Collaborate with programs and functional organizations to interpret scheduling requirements.
• Manage production schedules for an entire factory servicing multiple businesses.
• Document, track, and monitor problems to ensure timely resolution.
