Plan and assign appropriate workloads (shift/daily/weekly). Train, mentor, and develop a cross-trained and flexible workforce. Troubleshoot problems in production and take corrective actions as necessary to ensure highest quality, lowest cost, and shortest lead times.
Essential Functions Of The Job
- Lead and optimize textile production processes, Analyze data and key performance indicators (KPIs) to identify trends and patterns
- Lead, motivate and mentor production teams
- Plan and schedule daily/weekly production activities and priorities. Establish goals, review work, and evaluate employee performance to standards by communicating effectively and taking appropriate actions
- Train employees in accordance with work instructions and safety training standards or requirements, verify the training was effective, and document completed training on the employee's training record
- Effectively communicate with all shift supervisors about current process situations at each machine
- Communicate departmental needs including machine break downs, chemical usage and staffing with Department Manager daily
- Assist operators in times of difficulty and ensure that machine breakdowns are addressed immediately to ensure quality of products is maintained
- Administer the Collective Bargaining Agreement, company policies, and work rules in accordance with the department manager's expectations
- Calibrate equipment and monitor preventive maintenance program by coordinating with Maintenance and Department Manager
- Evaluate, implement, and monitor processes and operating systems to ensure and improve the safety, quality, cost effectiveness, and efficient manufacturing of products across three shifts by working in conjunction with shift supervisors
- Develop measurement systems to analyze and control quality, cost, and efficiency of production to meet company deadlines
- Conduct trials by coordinating with the Design Department to develop or improve cost effective and efficient processes to ensure quality products
- Work closely and communicate with department managers and shift supervisors to ensure and improve quality control, cost effectiveness, and efficient production
- Analyze problems, determine root causes, and prepare Preventive and Corrective Action Reports
- Work collaboratively with supervisors by scheduling work flow through key processes
- Conduct one on one meetings with Bargaining Unit employees and develop cross training initiatives by collaborating with Department Manager and shift supervisors to meet the staffing needs for key processes
- Perform all duties in accordance with safety rules and regulations
- Perform other duties as assigned by Department Manager

QUALIFICATIONS (The training, education, and/or experience necessary to fulfill the job)
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Industrial Management, or related field.
- 5 years' experience in a manufacturing environment with at least 3 years in a supervisory role
- 3 years of hands-on experience working with QMS/ ISO 9001 2015, especially process improvement and technical documentation
- 3 years of working knowledge on Lean Manufacturing
- Solid Excel skills for data analysis
- Or any equivalent combination of education and experience that demonstrates the ability to perform the key responsibilities
Physical Requirements And Working Environment
- Regularly required to sit, stand, walk, bend, move about the production mill, and work in an office setting.
- Production Mill with exposure to noise, dust, requiring the use of appropriate personal protective equipment including hearing protection and slip resistant footwear.
- Frequently grasp, grip, hold, and manipulate small objects.
- Frequently required to inspect objects through touch, smell, and sight.
- Frequently utilize a computer workstation (mouse, keyboard, monitor) and other routine office equipment.
- Occasionally lift and transport object in an office or production environment, up to 25 pounds.
2nd shift: 3:00 pm - 11:30 pm
