Job summary

MSD is seeking a highly experienced leader to guide the R&D of high-volume manufacturing methods for clinical consumables at our Gaithersburg site. You will lead a multidisciplinary team, drive scalable design, and prototype systems for manufacturing and inspection while collaborating with internal and external partners.

The role requires a strong background in high-throughput plastics, cGMP/ISO familiarity, and the ability to make critical technical decisions in a fast-paced research

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Biology, Chemistry, Biotechnology, Engineering or related field is required.
• Master’s degree in a similar field preferred.
• Minimum 10 years of experience in high throughput plastic manufacturing.
• Minimum 5 years of experience manufacturing biological products preferred.
• Experience with cGMP and/or ISO certification preferred.
• Desirable skills include manufacturing immunoassays/reagents or ICDs.

Responsibilities

• Lead a multidisciplinary team in R&D of high-volume consumable manufacturing methods.
• Guide scalable, high-quality consumable design processes.
• Develop and prototype manufacturing/inspection systems.
• Make key technical decisions during R&D activities.
• Perform hands-on work as part of active experimental programs.
• Prepare and present project designs and technical reports.
• Create/update manufacturing and project documents and procedures.
• Work with Quality to ensure manufacturing according to guidelines.
• Ensure compliance with relevant regulatory standards.
