Job summary

MSD in Gaithersburg, MD is seeking a senior scientist to develop and execute advanced research and development activities across electrochemistry, materials science, and photophysics. You will collaborate across interdisciplinary teams and may supervise others, driving new product development through methods, reagents, and instrumentation platforms.

The role requires strong data analysis, excellent communication, and a proactive, self-motivated approach to problem solving in a lab environment.

Qualifications

• Ph.D. in a physical sciences field with 2+ years independent research or development experience.
• Master’s degree may be considered with at least 8 years of independent and productive research or development experience in relevant field.
• Minimum of four years laboratory experience with proven hands-on technical abilities.

Responsibilities

• Design and execute complex experiments for R&D and product development.
• Prepare procedures, maintain lab notebooks and records to support development.
• Procure reagents and equipment needed for experiments.
• Analyze data and present findings to peers and management; may code for analysis.
• Lead and coordinate technical team efforts and mentoring as needed.
• Ensure laboratory safety and compliance.
