Job summary

Jabil seeks a Lead Manufacturing Mechanical Engineer to design, industrialize, validate, and continually improve large-form mechanical manufacturing processes. You will serve as SME for fastening systems, fixtures, tooling, and automation across NPI, ramp, and sustaining operations, partnering with cross-functional teams.

You will lead DFM/DFA, PFMEA, tooling and torque strategies, and automation initiatives to improve safety, quality, delivery, cost, and productivity.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in mechanical/manufacturing engineering or related field.
• 7+ years in manufacturing engineering for mechanical assembly, automation, or tooling.
• Experience leading DFM/DFA and process optimization projects.
• Experience with PFMEA and mechanical risk mitigation.
• Strong interpretation of drawings, GD&T, tolerances, and assembly documentation.

Responsibilities

• Lead development and maintenance of manufacturing docs: work instructions, drawings, torque specs, SOPs, BOMs, process flows.
• Conduct DFM/DFA reviews during NPI to optimize manufacturability, serviceability, ergonomics, and quality.
• Develop PFMEA documentation and risk assessments for mechanical assembly processes.
• Establish standardized fastening strategies, torque methods, tool validation, and error-proofing.
• Analyze tolerance stack-ups and GD&T to prevent fit-up, misalignment, and leakage.
• Lead design, procurement, commissioning and lifecycle management of fixtures, jigs, ergonomic aids, and tooling.
• Convert engineering drawings into operator-friendly instructions and standardized procedures.
• Optimize assembly sequences to improve safety, ergonomics, and takt time.
• Partner with cross-functional teams to implement automation and improve flow and defect reduction.
• Provide hands-on troubleshooting for assembly issues: fit-up, stresses, leaks, and rework reduction.
• Develop equipment specs, validation plans, acceptance criteria, and support FAT/SAT activities.
• Ensure engineering change control and documentation discipline across NPI, ramp, and sustaining phases.
