Job summary
Karman Space & Defense seeks a Director of Manufacturing Engineering to lead strategy and execution across production value streams in Huntington Beach, CA. You will drive process capability, problem-solving, NPI readiness, and continuous improvement while aligning engineering, operations, quality, programs, and supply chain.
You will guide scalable manufacturing systems that boost safety, productivity, quality, and cost performance across facilities.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in manufacturing/related field.
- 10+ years in aerospace/defense manufacturing engineering.
- 5+ years in leadership of technical teams.
- AS9100 or ISO standards experience.
- CAD/CAM, CNC programming, and analytics tools.
- Strong problem-solving and cross-functional collaboration.
Responsibilities
- Lead cross-functional team to standardize planning and manufacturing flow.
- Define and maintain standard processes, specs, work instructions.
- Implement PFMEAs, validations, capability studies.
- Improve throughput, setup time, scrap, cycle time, labor efficiency.
- Incorporate AI tools to support machining estimates.
- Collaborate with design engineering and customers for manufacturability.
- Lead readiness activities: tooling, process validation, ramp.
- Coordinate with program management, quality, supply chain.
