Job summary

Blue Origin in Merritt Island, FL is seeking a Senior Manufacturing Engineer to define, develop, and improve manufacturing processes for New Glenn vehicle structures, propulsion systems, and avionics assemblies. You will work in a fast-paced environment where decisions affect production rate, quality, safety, and cost.

You will collaborate with Design Engineering for producibility, lead PRRs and FAIs, and drive continuous improvement using Lean Six Sigma methodologies across manufacturing

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant engineering discipline.
• 7+ years of progressive manufacturing engineering experience in aerospace/defense or similar.
• Hands-on in developing and improving manufacturing processes for large complex assemblies.
• Experience authoring/managing manufacturing docs (work instructions, BOMs).
• Knowledge of GD&T and tolerance analysis in manufacturing.
• Experience with structural assembly methods (fastening, welding, bonding, composites).
• Familiarity with AS9100 quality systems and non-conformance management.

Responsibilities

• Own end-to-end manufacturing process development for vehicle structures, propulsion, or avionics assemblies.
• Develop and maintain Manufacturing Process Specifications and work instructions.
• Provide DFM/DFA feedback to ensure producibility early in design.
• Lead PRRs, FAIs, and process qualification activities.
• Identify root causes and drive corrective actions for non-conformances.
• Define tooling, fixturing, and capital equipment requirements; implement new production assets.
• Track manufacturing metrics; lead Lean/Six Sigma improvements.
• Support rate ramp activities and bottleneck removal.
• Coordinate with Supply Chain to qualify supplier processes.
• Mentor junior engineers and promote technical excellence.
