Job summary

Amperesand is seeking a Senior Manufacturing Engineer to lead the design and development of advanced automation equipment and assembly lines as we scale our hardware product portfolio. You will drive cross-functional initiatives to bring innovative hardware solutions from concept through full-scale production, collaborating with controls, mechanical, and electrical design teams.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s or master’s degree in mechanical, manufacturing, or industrial engineering.
5+ years in manufacturing engineering with DFM, process development, and high-mix or low-to-high-volume production.
Hands-on experience in injection molding, die casting, machining, assembly automation, potting, soldering, laser, adhesion.
Experience in large-scale capital equipment design projects—from RFQ to FAT/SAT/SOP.
Experience in data collection and analysis for process development or related engineering.
Willing to lead cross-functional projects and vendor engagements.
Familiarity with OEE, CP, CPK, PFMEA, DOE, root cause analysis, and SPC.
Excellent written and verbal communication; able to work in Agile environments (Jira).
Ability to travel up to 20–25%, including internationally.

Responsibilities

Lead DF Design for Manufacturing and DFx, assembly, quality, reliability.
Lead and implement robust manufacturing processes, including sequencing, parameter development, and assembly recipes.
Drive quality, repeatability, and throughput in prototype and production environments.
Collaborate with Design Eng, NPI, Quality, and Production teams throughout the product lifecycle.
Act as technical lead to resolve quality and functional issues with production and contract manufacturers.
Develop data-driven action plans and root-cause analyses for timely resolution and CI.
Design and validate prototype tooling and assembly equipment with third-party builders.
Collaborate with equipment design engineers for in-house equipment development.
Oversee internal/external equipment development for new product introduction and scale-up.
Support ramp-up of production lines, resolve issues, optimize performance, meet takt time, yield, and labor targets.
Perform line balancing and capacity planning for efficient layouts.
Maintain process docs and participate in Engineering Change Management.
Drive continuous improvement through data collection and feedback loops.
Mentor technicians and production associates as needed.
