Job summary

Rochester Precision Optics, LLC, a global leader in precision optics, seeks a Senior Manufacturing Engineer to provide technical leadership and manufacturing support across multiple optics production lines. The role emphasizes process development, standardization, and cross-functional collaboration to improve quality, throughput, and repeatability.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in GD&T, fixture/tooling development, and hands-on problem-solving in a precision manufacturing

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical, manufacturing, industrial, optical, aerospace engineering or related field.
• Minimum 10 years of manufacturing engineering experience in a precision manufacturing environment.
• Strong understanding of manufacturing process development, process control, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement.
• Experience supporting production environments including root-cause investigation, yield improvement, cycle time reduction, and process optimization.
• Proficiency interpreting engineering drawings, specifications, and GD&T requirements.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical leadership across multiple precision optics production lines.
• Develop, implement, and maintain standardized manufacturing processes, work instructions, and process documentation.
• Lead root-cause analysis and resolve production and process issues impacting quality, yield, or throughput.
• Support the transition of products from prototype to stable volume production.
• Design, develop, and implement tooling, fixtures, and process improvements to increase efficiency and reduce scrap.
• Analyze production data and process metrics to identify trends and drive data-driven decisions.
• Partner with production, quality, and engineering teams to resolve manufacturing challenges.
• Lead or support manufacturing projects and capital improvement initiatives.
