Job summary

Northrop Grumman in Sunnyvale, CA seeks an Engineer Manufacturing / Principal Engineer Manufacturing to support the manufacturing and testing of marine propulsion and power generation systems, including high-value gearing, steam turbine assemblies, machined components and welded fabrications.

You will develop new processes, improve existing manufacturing processes, and coordinate tooling and fixtures with a team of experienced mechanics, machinists, welders and engineers.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree with a minimum of 2 years of relevant work experience; OR a master's degree with 1 or more years of relevant work experience.
• Experience reading and interpreting engineering drawings.
• Experience with machining and machine shops.
• Experience with mechanical assembly processes, welding and machining.
• Experience in technical writing.
• Ability to obtain a US Government Secret Clearance.
• U.S. Citizenship required.
• Bachelor's degree with a minimum of 5 years of relevant work experience; OR a master's degree with 3 or more years of relevant work experience.
• Experience reading and interpreting engineering drawings.

Responsibilities

• Develop new processes, improve existing manufacturing processes, and develop the required tooling and fixtures with an excellent team of experienced assembly mechanics, machinists, welders and engineers.
• Adapts machine or equipment design to factory and production conditions.
• Evaluate existing manufacturing processes and systems to reduce cost, improve sustainability and develop best practices within the manufacturing environment.
• Develop efficient process flows and sequences of operations, optimized production area layouts, manage bills of materials, and create detailed work instructions, process procedures and tooling requirements with emphasis on safety, foreign object elimination and equipment/system maintenance.
• Support continuous improvement initiatives and implementation of new capital equipment for establishing expanded production processes.
• Select roles will also support final acceptance testing of product and provide technical support to test facility operation as necessary.
• The ability to support multiple production shifts is required (first, second, third shifts, and weekends) based on the assignment and current and future production schedules.
