Job summary

Northrop Grumman Mission Systems (NGMS) in Sunnyvale, CA seeks a Manufacturing Engineer Level 5 to lead design-for-manufacturability, cost optimization, and transition to production on a marine propulsion program.

You will work with Design Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, Operations, and Global Supply Chain to meet program goals, driving cost, schedule, and quality improvements across the lifecycle.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree with 12 years of engineering/manufacturing experience, or Master's with 10 years, or PhD with 8 years.
• 5 years experience interpreting, developing, and approving engineering drawings and/or schematics.
• 5 years experience with mechanical assembly, machining, and/or fabrication manufacturing processes.
• Experience with cross-functional organizations (Program Office, Engineering, Manufacturing, Supply Chain, Quality, Field Operations, etc.)
• Experience using Microsoft Office Applications (PowerPoint, Project, Excel Pivot Tables, V-Lookups, data analysis).
• Ability to obtain and maintain a US Government Secret Clearance.
• US Citizenship required.

Responsibilities

• Propose new manufacturing processes, assembly features, and tooling to reduce time and cost.
• Develop efficient manufacturing process flows and optimize production area layouts.
• Recommend continuous improvement initiatives and capital equipment for efficient production.
• Perform DFMA studies on new product development and advise on implementation.
• Perform Design-to-Cost assessments while maintaining performance.
• Integrate with the IPT to meet program goals and lead project planning and scheduling.
• Lead technical projects with resource identification and financial management.
