Job summary

AeroVironment, Inc. is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer III to design and operate manufacturing systems for its unmanned air vehicles. You will select technologies and processes, plan the factory, and drive maintenance and CI of the manufacturing process.

You will apply Lean and Six Sigma to reduce waste, lead time and cost, while collaborating with design and supply teams to ensure manufacturability and on-time delivery of new products.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical or similar field.
• 5–8 years in Manufacturing, Mechanical, Electrical, Test Engineering or similar in Aerospace/Automotive/Commercial.
• Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma methodology required.
• Experience with electro-mechanical manufacturing, drawings, procedures and BOMs required.
• Proficient with Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Access, Project; MiniTab, Oracle, Agile; CAD (SolidWorks preferred).
• Travel to supplier sites up to 30%.

Responsibilities

• Create and manage equipment specifications and documentation for production equipment.
• Apply Lean and Six Sigma to improve productivity, quality and lead time.
• Generate value stream maps to reduce cycle time, waste and variation.
• Develop manufacturing strategies and capital cost models.
• Create and review work instructions and assembly procedures for manufacturing.
• Cost estimate tooling and fixtures to support production.
• Lead Make/Buy analyses with cross-functional teams.
• Perform DFx, cost and reliability analysis with design team.
• Coordinate with suppliers and contract manufacturers for conforming parts.
• Address problems of varied scope with data-driven analysis.
• Other duties as assigned.
