Job summary

AeroVironment, Inc. is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer II to design and optimize manufacturing systems for its Unmanned Air Vehicles. The role involves selecting technologies, planning the factory, and supporting continuous improvement of the manufacturing process.

The ideal candidate will have deep knowledge of manufacturing production processes, including automation and new technology development, and will work with the design team to ensure manufacturability of new products.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or a related field is required.
• 5–8 years in Manufacturing, Mechanical, Electrical, Test Engineering, or similar.
• Experience in Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma required.
• Experience with electro-mechanical manufacturing, drawings, BOMs required.
• Willingness to travel up to 30%.

Responsibilities

• Create and manage equipment specifications and documentation for assembly and test equipment.
• Implement Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma to improve productivity, quality, and lead time.
• Generate Value Stream Maps to reduce cycle time and waste.
• Develop manufacturing strategies and capacity models for products.
• Create and review work instructions and assembly procedures.
• Perform cost estimates for tooling and lead Make/Buy analyses.
• Design for Manufacturing and reliability analysis with design engineering.
• Collaborate with suppliers and contract manufacturers to ensure conforming parts.
