Job summary

Johnson Controls Navy Systems in York, PA is seeking a Sr. Manufacturing Engineer to support and improve machine shop operations, including manual and CNC machining centers.

You will lead lean initiatives, manage capital projects, and collaborate across departments to improve safety, quality, delivery, and cost. The role requires hands-on manufacturing engineering experience, lean principles, and the ability to apply practical engineering solutions aligned with operational goals.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering or equivalent with hands-on manufacturing experience.
• Lean manufacturing with 5S and Six Sigma experience required.
• Experience leading capital equipment projects and facility changes.
• Strong machining background (manual and CNC).
• Proficient in CAD tools such as SolidWorks or Creo.
• Ability to work cross-functionally with Supply Chain, Quality, Engineering, and Safety.

Responsibilities

• Develop and refine manufacturing processes, tooling, and production controls.
• Provide hands-on support to resolve day-to-day manufacturing issues.
• Lead continuous improvement initiatives to reduce scrap and improve uptime.
• Identify cost-reduction opportunities and justify investments.
• Manage capital equipment planning, justification, and procurement.
• Plan facility changes to support forecasted production volumes.
• Develop and maintain Standard Work Instructions.
