Job summary

Hyliion is seeking a Senior Manufacturing Engineer to lead assembly line and fixture design for KARNO core and subassemblies in Austin, TX. You will drive process qualification, material handling improvements, and waste reduction across end-to-end value streams.

The role emphasizes mentoring engineers, applying 3D CAD, and advancing additive manufacturing where applicable, with travel up to 30%. Candidates with 10+ years in manufacturing engineering and a strong Lean background are favored.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing, or Industrial Engineering (or related field).
• 10+ years of experience in a manufacturing engineering role with exposure to engine, genset, electric motor, or precision electromechanical assembly operations.
• Experience taking prototype and low-volume builds into repeatable production processes.

Responsibilities

• Design assembly lines, cells, and workstations for KARNO core, module, and subassembly operations.
• Design and qualify fixtures, jigs, and tooling; manage datum, tolerances, and poka-yoke features.
• Develop material handling, kanban, and WIP control with Supply Chain and Production Control.
• Lead root cause analysis and corrective actions using 5-Why, 8D, and DOE methods.
• Collaborate on prototype development and transition to production-scale operations.
