Job summary

Commonwealth Fusion Systems is seeking a Senior Manufacturing Engineer - Assembly to design, implement, and optimize manufacturing lines in a high-mix, low-volume environment. You’ll collaborate with design, production, quality assurance, and supply chain to improve productivity, efficiency, and product quality.

In this role you will lead process documentation, implement Lean and Six Sigma, and develop tools, fixtures, and equipment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a related field is required
• 7+ years of experience in manufacturing/production engineering
• Strong knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, and quality systems
• Proficient in CAD software (NX, SolidWorks, AutoCAD) and manufacturing ERP systems
• Ability to balance autonomy with disciplined escalation
• Leadership through hands-on engagement

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement new manufacturing lines in a high-mix, low-volume environment
• Analyze and improve manufacturing processes to reduce costs and increase efficiency
• Develop and maintain process documentation (SOPs, work instructions, flow diagrams)
• Collaborate with product design and development to ensure manufacturability
• Lead Lean and Six Sigma initiatives to enhance production performance
• Lead design and procurement of tools, fixtures, and equipment
• Troubleshoot equipment and process issues and implement corrective actions
• Conduct time and motion studies to optimize labor utilization
• Support continuous improvement initiatives and safety compliance
