Job summary

Commonwealth Fusion Systems is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer to design, implement, and optimize manufacturing processes across the production line. You will own the shift, collaborating with design engineers, production staff, quality assurance, and supply chain to improve productivity, efficiency, and quality.

The role focuses on real-time decision making, process documentation, and ensuring manufacturability of new products.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant engineering field is required.
  • 7+ years in a manufacturing or production engineering role are expected.
  • Proficiency in Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, and quality systems is required.
  • Proficient with CAD tools (NX, SolidWorks, AutoCAD) and manufacturing ERP systems.
  • Demonstrated leadership, analytical, and teamwork abilities.
  • Ability to operate in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
  • Knowledge of SPC and FMEA is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Make real-time decisions within defined guardrails; escalate when conditions breach limits.
  • Analyze and improve manufacturing processes to reduce costs and boost efficiency.
  • Develop and maintain SOPs and process flow diagrams.
  • Collaborate with design and development teams to ensure manufacturability of new products.
  • Implement Lean and Six Sigma to enhance production performance.
  • Lead design and procurement of tools, fixtures, and equipment for efficient production.
  • Troubleshoot equipment and process issues and implement corrective actions.
  • Conduct time and motion studies to optimize methods and labor utilization.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives and adopt best practices across the facility.
  • Ensure compliance with safety regulations and company policies.
