Job description

An innovative space technology company is seeking a Senior Manufacturing Engineer to support the development and production of next-generation robotic, mobility, and aerospace systems designed for extreme environments. This is an exciting opportunity to join a fast-paced, mission-driven organisation focused on advancing human exploration while delivering cutting-edge engineering solutions.

The successful candidate will play a key role in developing, implementing, and optimising manufacturing processes for complex, high-reliability hardware. Working cross-functionally with engineering, supply chain, quality, and production teams, you will help bridge design and manufacturing to ensure products are built efficiently, reliably, and at scale.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement manufacturing processes for complex mechanical and electromechanical assemblies.
  • Partner with design engineering teams to integrate Design for Manufacturability (DFM), Design for Assembly (DFA), and Design for Test (DFT) principles throughout product development.
  • Create and maintain manufacturing documentation, including work instructions, process specifications, and assembly procedures.
  • Lead root cause investigations and corrective actions related to manufacturing issues, non-conformances, and product failures.
  • Design and implement tooling, fixtures, and assembly methodologies for precision-engineered hardware.
  • Support prototype development and early-stage production builds.
  • Collaborate with suppliers to qualify manufacturing processes and improve product quality and consistency.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on cost reduction, quality enhancement, and production efficiency.
  • Plan and execute manufacturing readiness activities and support production ramp-up strategies.
  • Contribute to the development of scalable manufacturing capabilities for future growth.
Key Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
  • 7–10 years' experience in manufacturing engineering within aerospace, automotive, robotics, advanced mobility, defence, or other high-reliability industries.
  • Proven experience developing and implementing manufacturing processes for complex assemblies.
  • Strong understanding of engineering drawings, geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T), and technical documentation.
  • Experience working within regulated quality environments (AS9100, ISO 9001, or equivalent).
  • Knowledge of structured problem-solving and root cause analysis methodologies (8D, RCCA, Fishbone, etc.).
  • Experience with additive manufacturing and advanced production technologies. Proficiency with CAD software such as SolidWorks or equivalent.
  • Hands-on experience with machining, fabrication, assembly, or production operations.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-moving, evolving environment with shifting priorities.
  • Strong organisational, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Self-motivated with a proactive approach to problem solving and execution.

This is a unique opportunity for an experienced manufacturing engineer to contribute to pioneering technology programmes at the forefront of advanced engineering and exploration. You'll work alongside multidisciplinary teams, solve complex manufacturing challenges, and help bring innovative products from concept through production in a highly collaborative and mission-focused environment.
