Job summary

Amazon seeks a Principal Manufacturing Engineer to define and drive the manufacturing strategy for new product introductions, informing production line design and partnering with product teams.

In this senior role, you’ll shape the architecture of high‑volume assembly, lead cross‑functional initiatives, and build scalable processes. You’ll mentor engineers, accelerate learning cycles, and push for design decisions that balance speed with quality in a dynamic environment.

Qualifications

• 10+ years direct manufacturing engineering experience in high-volume assembly and prototyping for complex electromechanical products.
• Experience owning manufacturing strategy for a new product introduction from concept through volume production.
• Ability to influence cross-functional teams including engineering, design, and program leadership.
• Knowledge of assembly methods including joining, fastening, adhesive bonding, and robotics.

Responsibilities

• Serve as manufacturing voice in design trades; influence product architecture and material selection.
• Define end-to-end manufacturing strategy across build iterations and transition to volume.
• Establish frameworks and criteria for readiness and manufacturing readiness processes.
• Develop assembly methods with rapid iteration and reconfigurability across builds.
• Define build instrumentation, data capture, and lessons-learned for design iteration.
