Job summary

CLG Transportation is seeking a hands-on senior operations leader to drive day-to-day performance of our transportation operation. You will work across Planning, Driver Management, Customer Operations, Maintenance, Brokerage, Sales and leadership to improve fleet utilization, service, and accountability.

This role requires strong operational judgment, data fluency with KPIs and dashboards, and the ability to mentor teams while identifying process improvements and ensuring execution.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience in transportation, logistics, fleet operations, supply chain, or a related operational environment.
  • Previous leadership or people-management experience.
  • Strong understanding of transportation operations, planning, dispatch, service, or fleet performance.
  • Experience working with operational KPIs, reporting, or performance dashboards.
  • Strong analytical, communication, and decision-making skills.
  • Experience working cross-functionally with customers, operations, sales, maintenance, or brokerage teams is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Lead daily transportation operations from freight acceptance through planning, dispatch, execution, and delivery.
  • Improve fleet utilization, driver productivity, equipment positioning, and service performance.
  • Identify opportunities to reduce deadhead, detention, delays, and other operational inefficiencies.
  • Monitor operational and financial KPIs and identify trends or areas requiring attention.
  • Develop a strong understanding of customer freight patterns, lanes, capacity needs, and service expectations.
  • Support customer, freight, lane, capacity, and operational strategy discussions.
  • Partner with Planning, Driver Management, Customer Operations, Maintenance, Brokerage, Sales, and leadership to improve execution.
  • Help resolve operational issues and ensure appropriate ownership and follow-through.
  • Coach and develop team members within transportation operations.
  • Identify recurring challenges and implement practical process improvements.
  • Use dashboards, reporting, and performance data to support better operational decisions.

About the Role:

This is a hands-on senior operations leadership position responsible for helping drive the day-to-day performance of our transportation operation. We are seeking an experienced transportation professional who understands how drivers, equipment, freight, customers, planning, service, and financial performance connect.

You will work closely across Planning, Driver Management, Customer Operations, Maintenance, Brokerage, Sales, and leadership to improve fleet utilization, service performance, communication, accountability, and operating consistency.

This role requires strong operational judgment, problem-solving ability, comfort working with data and KPIs, and the ability to identify issues early and help teams take action.
