Job summary

EnergyUnited seeks a Manager of Technical Services to lead planning, operation, maintenance, and modernization of substations, transmission, communications, and OT systems. The role ensures reliability and security of critical grid infrastructure while supporting safe, dependable electric service to members.

Reporting to the Director of Grid Systems, you will manage budgets, lead technical staff, and drive grid modernization and cybersecurity initiatives across EnergyUnited’s service territory.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license in North Carolina.
• Demonstrated leadership and supervisory experience.
• Strong knowledge of substation and transmission construction, maintenance, and operations.
• Knowledge of electric utility safety practices, NESC, RUS standards, and regulations.
• Experience with utility communications systems and OT infrastructure.

Responsibilities

• Provide leadership and direction for the Technical Services Department.
• Develop and implement department objectives and long-range strategies.
• Oversee substation and transmission operations, maintenance, testing, and inspection.
• Coordinate power restoration efforts during outages and emergencies.
• Direct the specification, installation, and maintenance of communications systems and OT assets.
• Manage inventory, procurement, and contract administration for transmission and substation materials.
