Job summary

Jobtailor is seeking a senior procurement and supply chain leader in the United States to own program-level performance across schedule, cost, and EAC. You will direct and develop a team of professional buyers and drive strategic sourcing for complex BOMs under FFP contracts and LTAs.

You will also shape procurement policies, analyze supplier performance, and manage capacity planning for high-mix manufacturing in aerospace/defense. This role requires leadership, travel, and strong ERP/MRP skills.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, SCM, Business, or related field.
  • 10+ years in procurement or supply chain in aerospace/defense or advanced manufacturing; or 7+ years with related Master's.
  • Minimum 3 years leading procurement teams with hiring and performance management.
  • Experience managing commercial procurement for complex BOMs under FFP contracts and LTAs.
  • Willingness to travel up to 25%.
  • Proficiency with ERP/MRP systems such as SAP or Oracle.
  • Experience with should-cost modeling and total cost of ownership analysis.
  • U.S. citizenship or eligible to work in the U.S.; background check required.

Responsibilities

  • Own program-level supply chain performance including schedule, cost, and EAC; regular reporting to program leadership.
  • Direct, mentor, and develop a team of Supply Chain Buyers; hiring and performance management.
  • Lead strategic sourcing and negotiation of FFP contracts and LTAs across the supplier base.
  • Develop and maintain procurement policies, procedures, templates, and digital tools.
  • Analyze material flow data and supplier performance to identify root causes and drive improvements.
  • Lead supplier capacity management including tooling, readiness, demand, and throughput.
  • Drive industrialization of build-to-print and build-to-spec hardware with manufacturing/quality engineering.
  • Lead first article inspection, production readiness reviews, and process capability.
  • Assess and govern TRL/MRL progression and create maturation roadmaps.
  • Integrate supplier production plans into master schedule and recover slipped milestones.
  • Ensure Supply Chain executes detailed plans and mitigates risks and deviations.
  • Lead rapid resolution of supplier, quality, and material challenges; escalate when needed.
  • Communicate program status, risks, and opportunities to leadership and stakeholders.

Job description

  • Own program-level supply chain performance for commercial programs, including schedule, cost, and Material Estimate at Completion, with regular reporting to program leadership
  • Direct, mentor, and develop a team of Supply Chain Professional Buyers, including hiring, goal-setting, performance management, and professional development
  • Lead strategic sourcing and negotiation of Firm-Fixed Price contracts and long-term agreements across the supplier base
  • Develop and maintain procurement policies, procedures, templates, and digital tools
  • Analyze material flow data, supplier performance metrics, and stakeholder feedback to identify root causes and implement improvements
  • Lead supplier capacity management by assessing capacity, tooling, manufacturing readiness, demand, and throughput
  • Drive industrialization of build-to-print and build-to-specification hardware with manufacturing and quality engineering
  • Lead first article inspection, production readiness reviews, process capability, and rate ramp activities
  • Assess and govern supplier Technical Readiness Level and Manufacturing Readiness Level, establishing maturation roadmaps
  • Integrate supplier production plans into the master schedule and drive recovery actions for slipped milestones
  • Ensure Supply Chain functions execute detailed plans and implement mitigation strategies for risks and deviations
  • Lead rapid resolution of supplier, quality, and material challenges, escalating to program and executive leadership when required
  • Communicate program status, risks, and opportunities through reports and presentations to leadership and cross-functional stakeholders
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Supply Chain Management, Business, or a related technical field, or higher
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in procurement, supply chain management, or a related discipline within aerospace, defense, or advanced manufacturing; alternatively, a Master's degree in a related field with a minimum of 7 years of equivalent experience
  • Minimum 3 years of experience directly managing procurement teams, including hiring, performance management, and professional development
  • Experience managing commercial procurement for complex Bills of Materials, including build-to-print hardware, build-to-specification components, COTS parts, and contract manufacturing partnerships under FFP contracts and LTAs
  • Ability to travel up to 25% for supplier engagement, site visits, and cross-facility collaboration
  • Hands-on proficiency with ERP/MRP systems such as SAP or Oracle
  • Proficiency with advanced procurement digital tools for material estimating, Basis of Estimate creation, and KPI tracking
  • Experience with procurement for spacecraft systems, space-rated hardware, or commercial spaceflight programs
  • Experience structuring and managing LTAs with contract manufacturers and build-to-specification suppliers
  • Experience with should-cost modeling, total cost of ownership analysis, and supplier performance governance
  • Ability to present complex procurement data and risk analysis to senior leadership
  • Experience in high-mix, low-volume or commercially oriented manufacturing environments
  • Experience with manufacturing industrialization and supplier capacity planning, including production ramp, MRLs, tooling and capacity assessments, and rate readiness
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident, or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum
  • Required to complete Blue's Standard Background Check
