Job summary

8Fleet is seeking a Senior Manager, Safety, Risk & Compliance to build scalable safety and risk programs for a high-volume W-2 driver workforce in Los Angeles.

You will partner with People, Operations, Fleet, and Legal to reduce workplace and driving risks, ensure regulatory compliance, and lead incident investigations, workers' compensation, and background screening programs across locations.

Qualifications

• 10+ years in Environmental Health & Safety, Risk Management, Workers' Compensation, Transportation Safety, or related fields.
• Experience supporting a large hourly, driver, logistics, or multi-site workforce.
• Strong knowledge of OSHA/Cal-OSHA, workers' compensation, injury management, and workplace safety requirements.

Responsibilities

• Own company-wide driver and workplace safety programs, policies, training, audits, and risk-reduction initiatives across all operating locations.
• Lead the workers' compensation and employee injury process, including injury reporting, claims oversight, investigations, return-to-work programs, accommodations, and coordination with employees, managers, and external partners.
• Oversee workplace injuries, vehicle accidents, safety incidents, and near misses; conduct root-cause analysis and partner with Operations on corrective and preventive actions.
• Ensure compliance with OSHA/Cal-OSHA and other federal, state, local requirements, including programs, training, documentation, reporting, and recordkeeping.
• Own pre-employment and ongoing background checks and drug/alcohol screening programs for drivers, manage vendors and ensure compliance with FCRA and DOT testing protocols.
• Identify driver safety trends, reduce preventable incidents, and set consistent safety expectations across the driver workforce.
• Manage relationships with vendors for workers' compensation, occupational health, safety, screening, and claims; ensure service and compliance.
• Lead safety readiness for new market launches with programs, training, and controls before launch.
• Monitor safety metrics and provide leadership with reporting on trends, risks, and improvement opportunities.
