Job summary

Amgen seeks a Senior Manager, R&D Budget Management & Execution to lead end-to-end budget processes for designated R&D units. You will partner with functional leaders and Finance to ensure accurate forecasts, timely closes, and insightful leadership reporting.

You will develop and mentor the Budget Management & Execution team, promote standardized practices, and drive data-driven decision making using advanced analytics and dashboards.

Qualifications

• Doctorate degree and 2 years biotech/pharma business operations and/or financial analytics experience
• Master’s degree and 4 years biotech/pharma business operations and/or financial analytics experience
• Bachelor’s degree and 6 years biotech/pharma business operations and/or financial analytics experience
• Associate’s degree and 10 years biotech/pharma business operations and/or financial analytics experience
• High school diploma / GED and 12 years biotech/pharma business operations and/or financial analytics experience
• Demonstrated leadership and ability to partner with cross-functional teams to drive financial insights

Responsibilities

• Lead the end-to-end budget management and execution process for assigned R&D organization(s)
• Serve as the primary Budget Management & Execution partner for functional leadership and R&D Finance
• Translate changes in baseline spend and priorities into clear financial implications and forecasts
• Maintain governance of budget plans and identify variances and trends
• Develop leadership-ready financial reporting and narratives for stakeholders
• Improve dashboards, reporting products, analytics, and tools for timely insights
• Enable execution of capital and operating expense plans through forecasting and funding alignment
• Provide budget execution support across procure-to-pay and related finance processes
• Lead and coordinate periodic accruals, PO maintenance, and forecast updates
• Collaborate with R&D, Corporate Finance, and cross-functional partners to drive process improvements
