Job summary

The New York City Comptroller’s Office seeks an Administrative Claim Examiner to oversee the Property Damage Division’s claims with a focus on investigation, settlement, and policy compliance.

Under the Division Chief, you will supervise staff, review files, and design efficient procedures while working with the Law Department and city agencies. Residency rules and 55-a program considerations apply.

Qualifications

• Four years of full-time experience investigating and settling liability claims, 18 months in administrative/managerial capacity.
• Equivalent combinations of education and experience are acceptable with managerial/supervisory experience.
• Strong analytical, negotiation, and reporting skills required.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Division Chief in managing the Property Damage Division’s operations and staff.
• Review settlement files, investigations, and supporting documentation for accuracy and compliance.
• Delegate monetary settlement authority within prescribed limits and coordinate with Law Department and City Agencies.
• Prepare performance evaluations and monitor staff conduct and performance.
