Job summary

HealthVerity, Inc. in Philadelphia is seeking a Senior Manager, Platform to lead the design, operation, and continuous improvement of our internal cloud infrastructure and platform services on AWS and Databricks.

You will mentor a mix of in-office and remote engineers, drive scalable infrastructure initiatives, and ensure platforms are secure, observable, and cost-efficient while aligning with business needs.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in platform, infrastructure, or DevOps engineering.
• 3+ years leading engineering teams, ideally in hybrid or distributed environments.
• Strong background in cloud-native infrastructure using AWS services (e.g., S3, EMR, Lambda, ECS, EventBridge).
• Deep understanding of Databricks, Spark, and scalable data pipeline architectures.
• Deep understanding of the optimization of cloud resources (FinOps best practices).
• Demonstrated ability to manage platform operations at scale while ensuring security, reliability, and compliance.
• Proven experience in platform observability, system performance optimization, and automation.
• Proven experience with availability & capacity management and planning.
• Proficient with infrastructure-as-code and CI/CD tooling (Terraform, Helm, GitHub Actions).
• Coding ability in Python and SQL; familiarity with containerized and serverless architectures.

ROLE OVERVIEW

As Senior Manager, Platform, you will lead the team responsible for the design, operation, availability, and continuous improvement of HealthVerity’s internal cloud infrastructure and platform services. Your team manages the foundational platforms that power our data and application environments, primarily AWS and Databricks, ensuring they are reliable, performant and scalable.

You will collaborate cross-functionally to implement best-in-class architecture and automation, enabling our systems to meet growing business demands. With a team composed primarily of in-office engineers in Philadelphia and several remote team members, you will drive strategic infrastructure initiatives, foster team development, and ensure our platforms are secure, available, observable and cost-efficient.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

QUALIFICATIONS

Required

• 5+ years of experience in platform, infrastructure, or DevOps engineering.


• 3+ years of experience leading, managing, and motivating engineering teams, ideally in hybrid or distributed environments.


• Strong background in cloud-native infrastructure using AWS services (e.g., S3, EMR, Lambda, ECS, EventBridge).


• Deep understanding of Databricks, Spark, and scalable data pipeline architectures.


• Deep understanding of the optimization of cloud resources (FinOps best practices).


• Demonstrated ability to manage platform operations at scale while ensuring security, reliability, and compliance.


• Proven experience in platform observability, system performance optimization, and automation.Proven experience with availability & capacity management and planning.

Preferred

• Proficient with infrastructure-as-code and CI/CD tooling (Terraform, Helm, GitHub Actions).


• Coding ability in Python and SQL; familiarity with containerized and serverless architectures.


• Familiarity with Agile methodologies.

Base salary for the role is commensurate with experience and can range between $150,000 - 180,000 + annual bonus opportunity.

Hiring Locations

Our main office is located in Center City, Philadelphia, where we operate on a hybrid model with in-office work required three days a week for local employees. We believe collaboration is most effective when teams come together, which is why we prioritize hiring in the Philadelphia area.

For certain roles, we also hire from hub locations —regions where we have an established presence with multiple team members working remotely. While these employees primarily work from home, we bring them together in person at least once a year for team-building, collaboration, and strategic planning.
