Job summary

RTX’s Vision Systems and Electronic Warfare Center seeks a Senior Manager, Mechanical Engineering to lead a team of 12–15 engineers focused on electronics packaging for airborne platforms. The role emphasizes program leadership, design, verification, and production support across multiple interfaces.

The position is onsite in Goleta, CA with 10–20% travel and requires working knowledge of GD&T, 3D CAD, and COTS/MOTS components in high-reliability environments.

Qualifications

• Requires STEM degree with extensive experience in mechanical design for defense-related electronic systems.
• Experience leading mechanical design, development and/or implementation of defense-related electronic systems.
• Experience designing electronics packaging solutions for high-reliability systems with environmental qualifications.
• Experience applying GD&T and ASME drawing standards to production hardware.
• Experience with 3D solid modeling tools (Creo/Pro/Engineer) for mechanical design and documentation.

Responsibilities

• Direct line management and career development for 12–15 engineers in the section.
• Be a key technical contributor to programs and products.
• Serve as liaison to programs ensuring success across technical, cost and schedule parameters.
• Participate in bid and proposal efforts and cross-functional responsibilities.
• Possess knowledge of electronics packaging design, thermal and structural analysis, and related manufacturing processes.
• Occasional travel (10–20%) to other Raytheon facilities, suppliers, or customer sites.
