Job summary

Simpson Thacher & Bartlett LLP is seeking a Senior Manager, Legal Recruiting & Associate Life in Chicago. You will oversee lateral and campus recruitment, orientation, and mentoring for new associates, partnering with the global HR team on firmwide initiatives and wellness.

The role is hybrid with at least three days in the office, reporting to the Director, Administration in Chicago with a dotted-line to the Director of Legal Talent – Regional Strategy.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in HR, Organizational Development, or related field, or equivalent professional experience.
• Minimum of 10 years of recruiting experience in a professional services firm or comparable environment.
• Strong business and financial acumen; excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Oversee attorney recruitment processes for the Chicago office, including lateral and campus recruiting.
• Create and implement strategic plan for lateral recruitment and office growth.
• Develop campus recruiting strategy for the full lifecycle of law student recruitment, from events to interviews and offers.
• Coordinate and travel to law school events as needed.
• Manage summer associate program, including events, assignments, and evaluations, and guide assignors.
• Support orientation and integration for new associates and laterals; coordinate mentoring.
• Develop events to foster morale and teamwork; work with Inclusion team and Chicago network.
• Manage associate work assignments, absences, and staffing levels; support training and CLE efforts in the office.
• Serve as advisor between associates and partners; direct resources to resolve concerns; oversee mentoring programs; conduct exit interviews.
• Manage budget and resource allocations; support additional projects and initiatives.
