Job summary

BMO Financial Group in California seeks an experienced governance professional to support legal counsel and Board activities. You will implement process improvements, coordinate Board and Committee meetings, maintain records, and ensure accurate, timely messaging to stakeholders.

You will serve as a trusted advisor to senior leaders, manage sensitive information, monitor milestones and budgets, and help drive strategic initiatives in a high‑stakes, fast‑paced environment.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of relevant experience in finance, risk management, legal or compliance.
• Proficient knowledge of the business and regulatory environment.
• Law degree preferred with focus on corporate, securities or tax law.
• Ability to influence stakeholders and drive collaborative work.
• Data-driven decision making and analytical problem solving.

Responsibilities

• Supports legal counsel with administrative and governance tasks.
• Leads and coordinates Board and Committee meeting activities and materials.
• Maintains corporate records and registrations.
• Coordinates internal audits and compliance procedures.
• Acts as trusted advisor to senior leaders for strategic initiatives.
• Monitors milestones and project expenses to stay on budget.
• Manages sensitive bank information and mitigates risk.
