Responsibilities & Qualifications

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • IT Strategy - collaborate with senior leadership and stakeholders to understand business needs. Partners with senior management to develop and implement IT strategies aligned with the company’s business goal’s and objectives.
  • Project and Product Management Oversight - Identifies future needs and trends. Provides direction and oversight to IT projects and products. Assigns project tasks, drives project schedules, product releases, and conveys results or updates to the appropriate parties.
  • Managerial Functions - Establishes and monitors expectations to achieve company and department goals. Makes appropriate changes to IT policies, standards, procedures, and efficiencies in order to meet objectives. Manages the performance, training, and evaluation of assigned staff. Maximizes department achievements by providing professional development. Ensures bank needs are met through prioritization and resource allocation.
  • Technical Expertise - Serves as a technical expert and strategic leader to senior management, associates, and business units. Ensures that team activities comply with all appropriate configuration, change controls, and security standards. Participates in business meetings and special projects to provide insight on end-user needs. Keeps abreast of industry trends. Identifies and holds accountable vendors in support of system updates and maintenance.

Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree and 8 years of experience in Applications development, analysis or engineering OR High School Diploma or GED and 12 years of experience in Applications development, analysis or engineering

Preferred Qualifications
  • 7+ years of progressive IT infrastructure experience, including administration or engineering responsibilities across multiple enterprise server platforms.
  • 3+ years of leadership or management experience, including direct supervision of technical staff, team coordination, or technical lead responsibility in a complex environment.
  • Demonstrated experience supporting Windows Server, Linux, AIX, enterprise storage, and backup platforms in a mid-sized or large enterprise environment.
  • Strong understanding of infrastructure operations, platform hardening, backup/recovery processes, disaster recovery, and production support.
  • Experience with change management, incident response, root cause analysis, and operational documentation.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with technical teams, senior leadership, auditors, vendors, and business stakeholders.
  • Experience working in a regulated environment with strong operational controls, documentation standards, and risk management expectations.
Preferred Areas Of Experience
  • Experience in the banking, financial services, or other highly regulated industries.
  • Experience supporting core banking platforms, payment systems, loan systems, treasury applications, or other business-critical financial workloads.
  • Familiarity with regulatory and control frameworks relevant to financial institutions, such as FFIEC guidance, SOX, PCI DSS, GLBA, or internal audit standards.
  • Experience with enterprise backup and recovery tools, storage area networks, replication technologies, and data retention controls.
  • Experience managing AIX on IBM Power Systems in support of critical applications.
  • Experience with virtualization platforms such as VMware or Hyper‑V.
  • Exposure to infrastructure automation using PowerShell, Python, Ansible, or similar tools.
  • Experience with monitoring and observability platforms for infrastructure health, alerting, and performance analytics.
  • Familiarity with Active Directory, LDAP, DNS, DHCP, file services, and identity-integrated infrastructure services.
  • Experience participating in or leading disaster recovery exercises, cyber recovery planning, and resilience testing.
  • Knowledge of hybrid cloud connectivity and infrastructure integration strategies where applicable.
Skills
  • Infrastructure leadership with the ability to balance hands‑on technical depth and managerial accountability.
  • Strong knowledge of Windows Server administration, including patching, security, troubleshooting, and operational support.
  • Strong knowledge of Linux administration across enterprise distributions, including performance tuning, scripting, patching, and security management.
  • Working knowledge of AIX administration, system support, and operational best practices.
  • Solid understanding of enterprise storage concepts, including SAN/NAS, provisioning, performance, replication, and capacity management.
  • Solid understanding of backup and recovery operations, including backup scheduling, retention, restore validation, and disaster recovery alignment.
  • Knowledge of system hardening, vulnerability remediation, and infrastructure security controls.
  • Strong skills in incident management, problem management, and root cause analysis.
  • Ability to create and maintain clear technical documentation, standards, runbooks, and procedures.
  • Effective people management, mentoring, and team development skills.
  • Strong organizational, prioritization, and decision-making abilities in fast-paced operational environments.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to translate technical issues for non-technical audiences.
  • Ability to work collaboratively across infrastructure, security, application, audit, and business teams.
Reporting Structure

The role will report into the Sr. Director Infrastructure and Operations and will have direct responsibility for system administrators, infrastructure engineers, or platform specialists.

Work Environment

This role may require participation in an on-call rotation, after-hours maintenance activities, disaster recovery testing, and incident response for critical production systems.
