Job summary

First Citizens Bank in Raleigh, NC seeks a senior leader to manage IT processes, systems, and staff behind the Bank’s technical operations. You will oversee networks, software, and hardware infrastructure, guiding enterprise strategy to ensure secure, cost-effective performance.

Leading 24x7 operations, you’ll shape incident response, monitoring, and service restoration while collaborating with business partners to align IT with organizational needs.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree and 8 years' experience OR High School Diploma or GED/Equivalent and 12 years' experience in complex leadership and management responsibilities in an Infrastructure and Operations Enterprise environment.
• Proven experience leading large-scale 24x7 operational support organizations.
• Deep understanding of enterprise batch processing environments utilizing Control-M or equivalent technologies.
• Experience supporting distributed, mainframe, and IBM i (AS/400) technology environments.
• Strong knowledge of infrastructure operations, production support, monitoring, observability, incident management, and service restoration processes.
• Demonstrated success leading operational transformation, organizational maturity, or command center modernization initiatives.
• Strong understanding of ITIL disciplines, including Incident Management, Problem Management, Change Management, and Event Management.
• Experience working within highly regulated environments, preferably financial services.

Overview

This position manages Information Technology ("IT") processes, systems, and staff associated with technical operations. Responsible for the performance and functionality of the Bank’s technical infrastructure, including networks, software, and hardware. Provides oversight and guidance to IT associate teams. Directs the strategic development of infrastructure to ensure Bank technology is cost-effective, secure, and effective in meeting organizational needs.

Responsibilities & Qualifications

• Operations Oversight - Manages associate teams supporting technical operations and infrastructure. Oversees, develops, and maintains systems, hardware, software, and other technical components crucial to daily operations. Implements methods of reporting and monitoring to track the performance, functionality, and cost-effectiveness of Bank systems. Provides guidance on the resolution of complex technical issues.
• Business Strategy - Matches technical operations and infrastructure activities with developing organizational needs. Develops strong relationships with business partners and service providers. Leads team strategies and initiatives.
• Managerial Functions - Establishes and monitors expectations to achieve company and department goals. Responsible for budget and resource allocation. Makes appropriate changes to IT policies, standards, procedures, and efficiencies in order to meet objectives. Manages the performance, training, and evaluation of assigned staff. Maximizes department achievements by providing professional development.
• Technical Expertise - Serves as a technical expert and strategic leader to senior management, associates, and business units. Maintains a strong knowledge of industry trends, technology, and vendor offerings. Ensures that the Bank’s technical infrastructure complies with all appropriate configuration and security standards, and that IT service levels are met.
