Job summary

Via Licensing Alliance, a Dolby Laboratories subsidiary, seeks a Senior Manager, Business Development & Technology, to identify, evaluate, and advance new patent pool opportunities. The role collaborates with legal, licensing, finance, and technical teams, engaging with patent owners and industry partners to shape licensing programs.

The position is hybrid, based in San Francisco, with in-office presence three days a week (Tue–Thu).

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in business, engineering, or related field.
• 8+ years in business development or IP/licensing roles.
• Experience with patent licensing and standards-based markets.
• Strong analytical and communication skills.
• Ability to translate complex tech into business terms.
• Experience engaging with licensors, licensees, and standards bodies.
• MBA or advanced degree preferred.

Responsibilities

• Identify and develop new patent pool and licensing programs across emerging technologies.
• Monitor trends in AI, data center, semiconductors, connectivity, and media tech.
• Build market landscapes and opportunity assessments for licensing opportunities.
• Develop business cases, revenue models, and go-to-market plans.
• Translate technical and legal information into clear recommendations for leadership.
• Lead or support stakeholder engagement and partnerships for new programs.
• Maintain a pipeline of opportunities and report to internal stakeholders.
