Job summary

Via Licensing Alliance, a Dolby Laboratories subsidiary, seeks a Senior Head of Litigation to develop and execute global litigation strategy, lead complex patent and commercial matters, manage outside counsel, and partner with senior leadership across legal, licensing, finance, product, and technology teams.

The role is hybrid and based in San Francisco, requiring in-office presence three days per week (Tue–Thu).

Qualifications

• Juris Doctor degree and active U.S. bar membership required.
• 10+ years of litigation experience with a focus on patent/IP and complex commercial litigation.
• Proven ability to lead high-stakes matters and manage outside counsel.

Responsibilities

• Lead end-to-end litigation strategy and execution, including discovery, pleadings, and trial prep.
• Advise senior leadership on litigation risk, dispute resolution, and licensing enforcement.
• Manage outside counsel with budget, staffing, and strategic alignment to business priorities.
• Evaluate licensing requests and infringement claims with business-focused judgment.
• Oversee discovery strategy, document review, and key filings with risk management.
• Collaborate with legal, licensing, finance, product, and tech teams to support outcomes.
• Develop practical recommendations for disputes including settlements or other resolutions.
• Build processes for litigation management, reporting, and matter tracking.
