Job summary

UT Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas seeks an Assistant Director, International Affairs to coordinate daily operations, ensure regulatory compliance, manage staffing and budget, and provide comprehensive reports. The role supervises managers and immigration staff, guiding policies for immigration and office technology.

The position requires substantial experience in immigration advisory work in an academic setting, with leadership responsibilities and a strong understanding of SEVIS, F-1/J-1

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in a related field.
• 7 years of immigration advising experience with J and H visas; managerial experience in an academic international office.
• U.S. citizen or permanent resident to meet federal requirements for PDSO and RO.

Responsibilities

• Serve as a Designated School Official (DSO) for F-1 students and Alternate Responsible Officer (ARO) for J-1 students to manage SEVIS records and I-20/DS-2019 forms.
• Provide guidance on federal immigration regulations and assist with complex status and compliance issues.
• Oversee non-immigrant regulatory advising for international visitors and visiting scholars.
• Coordinate with DHS/USCIS and other agencies to support institutional goals for immigrant visitors.
• Develop and share policies, procedures, and website content for international students.
