Job summary

Allegheny Health Network is seeking an experienced cost accounting leader to support finance and operational leadership with advanced patient cost analytics. The role drives cost allocation, data-driven decisions for capital investments, and payor negotiations, under the Director, Cost Accounting.

You will mentor staff, partner with hospital leaders, and deliver actionable insights using SAS, Excel, Tableau and other tools to improve cost accuracy and financial planning across the network.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or equivalent experience.
• 3 years in a leadership or management role.
• 3 years of database development.
• 3 years with cost accounting.
• Advanced Excel skills.
• Ability to adapt to changing computer technologies.
• Strong understanding of relational database structures, applications, and transactional systems.

Responsibilities

• Lead cost accounting operations across the network, including staffing and performance management.
• Establish guiding principles for cost accounting across entities and define cost allocations.
• Supervise cost analysts and ensure accurate cost information for fiscal years.
• Develop cost allocation rules and processes for ongoing accuracy.
• Use SAS, Excel, Tableau, Alteryx to create actionable reports for leadership.
• Diagnose financial health of delivery methods and support payor discussions.
• Develop business cases for long-term operating strategies.
• Prioritize capital equipment and real estate projects.
• Mentor team and drive professional development.
• Collaborate with hospital leaders to translate activity into productivity metrics.
• Provide training on cost data and reporting tools across the enterprise.
• Ensure data credibility with compliance and reconciliation practices.
